How this calculator works

A transparent wire mesh takeoff.

Divide slab area by the face coverage of one welded-wire sheet, then apply overlap and cutting allowance before whole-sheet rounding.

Worked example. Example: a 20 × 12 ft slab is 240 ft². 5×10 sheets at 50 ft² with 10% overlap round to 6 sheets.
  1. 1. Measure the slab that will receive the mesh, not the forms.
  2. 2. Enter the sheet you will buy. 5×10 is 50 ft²; a roll product should use its net coverage instead.
  3. 3. Keep chairs, tie wire and the rebar schedule as separate lines. This is a sheet count, not a structural design.

Does 10% cover the overlap?

A one-square overlap on 5×10 sheets is close to 10% on a simple rectangle. Irregular pours and extra laps need a higher allowance.

Is this a rebar substitute?

No. Mesh is not a design. Use the slab rebar calculator when the drawing calls for bars, and this tool when the spec calls for WWM.
