Cut and fill volumes are length × width × each depth. Net export is cut minus fill; net import is fill minus cut. Swell lives in the waste field.

LND-CUTFILL-001 is a rectangle with two average depths: cut volume, fill volume, and a net export or import. It is not a grading design. Swell and shrinkage live in the waste field so a bank yard is not ordered as a loose yard by accident.

Worked example. Example: a 50 × 20 ft pad cut 6 in and filled 4 in is about 18.5 yd³ cut and 12.3 yd³ fill, so a net export around 6.2 yd³ before swell.
