Measure the floor you will actually cover
Use net floor after cabinets you will not cover, or leave them in if you want extra. Closets on the same SKU stay in. A hallway that changes direction is two rectangles, not one average.
Herringbone and diagonal layouts need a higher waste than a straight stack. That percentage is an input, not a hidden bump inside length.
Coverage is the box you will buy
Enter the labelled square feet or square metres per carton. Click-lock laminate, glue-down LVP and sheet vinyl do not share a package. Construclytic rounds up to whole cartons so a later estimator can change the SKU without guessing the old coverage.
Do it in order
- Measure net floor as rectangles. Split unlike rooms.
- Type the labelled carton coverage and a waste that matches the layout.
- Round up to whole cartons, then add underlayment and trim as extras.
Worked example — 12 ft × 14 ft room, 20 ft² carton, 8% waste
Net 168 ft². With 8% waste that is 181 ft². At 20 ft² per carton the order rounds to 10 cartons. Underlayment is still missing from that count on purpose.
