Planning rates only. Pick a currency — badges, inputs, and totals follow. Material is a rate. Labour is hours × a planning hourly rate. Equipment and delivery are this-job amounts.

Planning defaults are office figures, not a bid. US ready-mix in 2026 often lands around $125–165 per cubic yard delivered; place-and-finish commonly $2–4 per square foot. Replace every rate with a supplier or crew quote before you send the letter.

How this calculator works

A transparent downspout takeoff.

Outlets are floor(eave ÷ spacing) + 1 so both ends get a drop. Pipe pieces are outlets × drop, plus waste, divided by stock length.

Worked example. Example: 60 ft of eave at 30 ft spacing is 3 downspouts. A 10 ft drop in 10 ft pieces with 5% waste rounds to 4 pieces.
  1. 1. Measure the gutter run, not the roof area.
  2. 2. 30–40 ft between outlets is a common planning spacing — not a rainfall design.
  3. 3. Elbows, offsets and splash blocks are extra pieces.

Questions

Questions about downspout

Does the gutter calculator already do this?

The gutter tool asks you how many downspouts you already planned. This page derives the count from spacing, then sizes the pipe.

Is this a drainage design?

No. Roof area per square inch of downspout and rainfall intensity stay with the gutter spec.

What is the formula ID?

This calculator publishes formula EXT-DWN-001, version 1.0.0. The ID stays on the result and on the estimate line.

Is this engineering advice?

No. Construclytic is a planning website, not a registered engineering or contracting firm. Field checks, codes and product data still sit with you.

Does Construclytic fetch live supplier prices?

No. Costs use the rate you enter. Construclytic does not fetch live supplier prices.
