Measure the run, then the openings you will skip
Measure the fence centreline. Gates are not deducted automatically — subtract their width before calculating or add them as separate estimate items.
- Post spacing is on-centre. A 100 ft run at 8 ft spacing is not 100 ÷ 8 posts without the extra end post.
- Picket gap changes the count as much as picket width.
- Post-hole concrete uses bags per post from the selected mix, not a universal hole size.

Lumber and bags are purchased whole. Leave waste visible for cut pickets, slope adjustments and damaged stock.
- Gates, hardware, stain and rail caps are separate lines.
- Confirm post length for frost or local embedment independently.
- Replace bag yield with the selected concrete product.
