How this calculator works

A transparent starter strip takeoff.

Total eave length times a lap allowance, divided by the linear coverage printed on the starter bundle, rounded up to whole bundles.

Worked example. Example: 100 ft of eave at 105 ft per bundle with 10% waste rounds to 2 bundles.

1. Add both eaves on a gable. Hip roofs still need starter at every eave.
2. Enter the linear coverage from the wrapper, not a shingle-bundle square count.
3. Some specs also want starter at rakes — add that length to the eave field.
