How this calculator works

A transparent ridge vent takeoff.

Ridge length times a small end-cap allowance, divided by the coverage of one vent section, rounded up to whole pieces.

Worked example. Example: a 30 ft ridge of 4 ft sections with 5% waste rounds to 8 pieces.

1. Measure the ridge that will be cut open for vent, not the hips unless the product is rated for hips.
2. Enter the section length you will buy. 4 ft is common.
3. Keep shingle cap as its own line — the ridge-cap calculator covers that.

No. NFA, intake at the soffit and the 1/150 or 1/300 rule stay with the attic spec. This is a piece count.
