How this calculator works

A transparent drip edge takeoff.

Add eave length to rake length, apply a lap allowance, then round up to whole sticks of the stock length you will buy.

Worked example. Example: 60 ft of eave plus 40 ft of rake with 10% waste is 110 ft, which rounds to 11 pieces of 10 ft drip edge.

1. Measure both eaves on a gable, and every rake.
2. Hip roofs often need drip at the eaves only — enter 0 for rake.
3. Color-match fascia and drip as separate SKUs if the job calls for it.

Is this the same as flashing?

Drip edge is the eave and rake metal. Step flashing, valleys and wall flashing are different takeoffs — use the flashing calculator for those runs.
