Stated material rate

Planning estimate, not engineering advice. Confirm site measurements and product specifications. Calculation limits.

This calculator applies an editable per-gallon planning rate and optional material allowance to a known paint quantity, keeping the material-only cost visible.

  1. Start with a whole-gallon quantity from a coverage calculation or supplier quote.
  2. Enter the current local material rate for the actual selected product.
  3. Keep labor, prep, tools, tax, delivery and other costs as separate estimate lines.

Add your project costs

Enter supplier prices and any labour, equipment or delivery costs. Pick a currency — badges, inputs, and totals follow.

Costs use the can rate you type. Construclytic does not fetch paint prices. Primer, ceiling gallons and cut-and-roll labour stay on their own lines. For GCC projects, select QAR, AED, SAR, KWD, OMR or BHD and enter local supplier rates.

How this calculator works

A transparent paint cost calculator takeoff.

This calculator applies an editable per-gallon planning rate and optional material allowance to a known paint quantity, keeping the material-only cost visible.

PAINT-COST-001 multiplies whole gallons by the rate you type. It is not a coverage takeoff. Keep gallons on the wall or room line, then price them here so the letter can change the SKU without re-measuring.

Worked example. Example: 3 gallons at $48 per gallon with no extra material allowance gives a $144 paint-material planning cost.

This separate example uses the calculator's starting values in imperial units. It stays unchanged when you edit the tool above. Example rates, yields and dimensions are assumptions, not recommendations for your project.

Field notes that change the number

  • Enter the rounded purchase gallons, not the net litres.
  • Primer, finish and ceiling paints are different rates.
  • Replace the planning rate with a dated ticket.

Common mistakes

  • Using this instead of the coverage calculator.
  • Leaving the default rate on a client letter.
  • Claiming a live paint index.
