This calculator turns ceiling area, selected coats, product-label coverage and a documented allowance into a whole-gallon paint purchase quantity.

  1. Measure finished ceiling length and width.
  2. Enter the number of coats and coverage on the selected ceiling-paint label.
  3. Apply a visible allowance before whole-gallon purchase rounding.

Worked example: Example: a 16 ft × 12 ft ceiling is 192 ft². Two coats with 5% allowance need 403.2 ft² of coverage; at 375 ft² per gallon, the result rounds to 2 gallons.
