How this calculator works

This calculator converts a floor area into whole underlayment rolls using the selected product's net coverage and a visible lap allowance.

  1. Measure the finished floor area.
  2. Enter net roll coverage after required overlaps.
  3. Confirm the selected flooring system's compatibility and installation instructions.

Worked example: Example: a 252 ft² floor with 10% allowance and 100 ft² net roll coverage rounds to 3 rolls.

Assumptions and limitations

  • Coverage should use the selected manufacturer's product label or quoted net coverage.
  • Waste is added before whole-unit purchase rounding.
  • Complex layouts, seams or patterns can require a higher documented allowance.
