How this calculator works

This calculator uses measured floor area, an explicit waste allowance and a user-entered material rate to create a preliminary material-only planning cost.

  1. Measure the finished flooring area.
  2. Enter a dated local material rate for the exact product.
  3. Add removal, substrate work, labor, transitions, delivery and tax separately.

Worked example: Example: a 252 ft² floor at $3.50/ft² with 10% allowance yields a $970.20 material-only planning estimate.

Assumptions and limitations

  • Material rate is an editable planning input and may be stale.
  • Labor, delivery, tax, underlayment, removal and site preparation are excluded.
  • Waste is applied before pricing only when the starting area excludes overage.

Common questions

Is this a final installed price?
